name of the game Gravity Force
release date Estimated for November 2024
genre Phyisics based arcade, 2.5D, casual spaceflight
What is the game about? Gravity Force puts you into the seat of a drone pilot. Steer your spaceship through narrow caves (2.5D) to fulfill your job: locate and retrieve cargo crates without wrecking the ship. The minimalistic controls and realistic physics are easy to learn, but hard to master.
description Gravity Force is a tribute to the Amiga game from the late 1980s with the same name. The game concept is heavily inspired by the original game, but the artwork, physics, levels and a lot of additional game elements are new. The game can be frustratingly hard - like games back in the '80s and '90s used to be.

Despite sometimes being frustratingly hard, it is meant to be fun! So it features a "relaxed" mode, which is a lot more forgiving.
multiplayer? Not directly. The game is singelplayer, but the global leaderboard allows to download recorded ghost files of other players, so you can fly intense races against other players whenever you want - and then upload your ghost to challenge them or other players. It truly feels like real multiplayer.
what NOT to expect?
  • If you are looking for microtransactions or lootboxes, Gravity Force is not for you.
  • This game does not and will not feature weapons or combat in any way.

about the developer Coffeeshock Studios is a small Indie Dev studio located in Germany. It's run by a single person beneath a fulltime job. Thus the development process is steady, but not as fast as it could be. A lot of dedication and love for details weighs more than the wish for profit.
background story The game was originally developed within the UNITY engine. Shortly before it's "comming soon" announcement on Steam UNITY changed its license model overnight. The new conditions were far away from acceptable, so I had to
a.) abandone UNITY
b.) learn UNREAL ENGINE from scratch
c.) start over with the game, only reusing the artwork, level design and 3D models.
This little stunt of John Riccitiello, the former CEO of UNITY delayed the project by nearly one year, and destroyed the last bit of faith I had in UNITY.
